"The Most Thoroughly Wasted of All Days..."

When I was growing up, we had a saying posted that read, "The most thoroughly wasted of all days is that on which on has not laughed." Disclaimer: I understand that this is not a completely accurate statement... but there is a high element of truth... so let's roll with it. :) I consider myself so entirely blessed to live with 3 amazing people who always keep me laughing.

Friday was the last day of school, and summer break began. The kids were so excited... but our doctors decided that Jacob needs to return to see the team of doctors in Philly early next week due to some continued concerns and I was afraid he'd be so disappointed. But he's learned to trust that He is entirely loved by God... and that we just get to follow where he leads. I am amazed at this little boy. He grimaces with discomfort at the thought of the appointments and the unknown... and then he makes us laugh and takes the next step. What grace. I told him to pack "a book" for the consistently long wait between appointments... and this is what he came up with...

After he packed everything we'd written on a list I looked over to see this... pretending to "eat his list" ... like any good spy would do.
And so we are thoroughly enjoying the start to our summer, after all.
There comes a point in time when you realize you can't control the circumstances or the outcome..

And then there comes a point in time when you are so glad that you are not the one who is in control.

We know who our Daddy is... and He is so kind... and He is so good... and there is nothing that He is unworthy of. Nothing. There is no reason I can find not to trust Him in any circumstance. None.
So we'll follow one step at a time and enjoy the journey. I know this little boy must make our Father smile. :)
You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Isaiah 55:12

Now that is a kid after my own heart...just look at those books! Way to go Jacob! If one has a book with him, then he'll never be lonely or bored! Of course we can't forget THE BOOK either! We love you guys and look forward to more updates, laughs, and pictures! Enjoy your summer no matter what, huh!
